Garrotxa Volcanic Walking and Gastronomy

~40 km · 3 days · Hiking · Relaxed · Groups of 4–8

Best: March–July, September–November

Three days walking through the Garrotxa volcanic zone — 40 dormant volcanoes, a beech forest growing inside a lava flow, and some of the best food in inland Catalunya. Day one crosses the Fageda d'en Jordà and the crater of Santa Margarida. Day two follows the old paths to Besalú, crossing its 11th-century Romanesque bridge. Day three walks from Castellfollit de la Roca — a village built on a 50-metre basalt cliff — back to Olot through the river valleys. Accommodation in rural masies with dinners prepared from volcanic-terroir produce. Join a group of 8 matched to your walking pace. A local guide with Garrotxa "Bon Coneixedor" certification leads the walks and handles all the gastronomy bookings.
