One of the great walks of northern Spain
Nine days traversing all three massifs of the Picos de Europa — one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in northern Spain, rising barely thirty kilometres from the Atlantic coast. The full Anillo Integral links nine mountain refuges across 114 km of limestone terrain, crossing the Western, Central, and Eastern massifs through deep gorges, high alpine plateaus, and villages that cling to the edges of vertical valleys. The route passes beneath the Naranjo de Bulnes — a 500-metre limestone wall that defines the skyline of the Central massif — and follows the legendary Ruta del Cares before climbing back into the high peaks.
The terrain is varied and rugged: narrow trails, misty Atlantic forests, and paths built over centuries where rock is the way. Nine nights in mountain shelters, communal dinners, the kind of fellowship that only forms when walking and sharing become the foundation of the experience. Shorter rings exist too — from a four-day loop of the Western massif to a six-day western-and-central combination — for those not ready for the full nine. Tell us how far you want to go.
